Martha V. Parravano, Horn Book "MVP."
It is with hugely mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Martha V. Parravano as Book Review Editor on Friday, May 5, 2023. A longtime/lifelong (!) Horn Booker, she is known as "keeper of the Horn Book flame" (--Editor Emeritus Roger Sutton). Pause. For. Weeping.
But now the very good news: we are lucky and thrilled that Martha will be staying on as Contributing Editor, continuing to bring her unparalleled expertise, experience, and warmth of spirit to her colleagues and to the Horn Book’s work and publications — and, yes, that includes Calling Caldecott! More to come in the July/August issue of the Magazine. For now, please join me in wishing Martha an invigorating yet relaxing next chapter.

The MVP, indeed. I consider myself immensely lucky that I got to work with — and learn from — her. -- Jules DanielsonPosted : May 08, 2023 08:25
