A Tree Is Nice (text by Janice May Udry); 1950 and 2002 Honors for
The Happy Day (text by Ruth Krauss) and
The Stray Dog — while many other books (he illustrated nearly one hundred) have achieved classic status, including Karla Kuskin’s
The Philharmonic Gets Dressed and James Thurber’s
The 13 Clocks.
