I'm assured that Newbery/Caldecott/etc. news will be on our website bright and early--the press conference will be at 9:00 AM EST. I'll be there taking notes with Martha Parravano and Betty Carter, and will get back to you on what gets
oohed and what gets
booed. (Goodness, can you imagine?)

>PowerBook--definitely. I do programming on the side, and the first rule of thumb when it comes to computers and software is NEVER get the first version.I'm sure the MacBook Pro will be great, eventually. But the likelihood is that there are going to be quite a few bugs in the first implementation, especially since Apple's programmers are not used to dealing with the Intel way of doing things.
Get yourself a nice PowerBook G4--15" screen if you want good visibility, 12" screen if you want optimal portability. Also, get as much memory (RAM) added as you can afford. (Max it out if you have the $$.) It really speeds things up.
Hope that helps...

>My dear husband, retired head of the UMass Computer Science Department, got us all (us being the department and the family) on Macs. I am sitting in my tv room and writing on my ibook G4. And I have the least upgraded mac in the family.Cause I only read email, a few blogs, and play Bookworm.
