Transgender Awareness Month 2017 resources

November is Transgender Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the lives of trans people, remember those lost to anti-trans hate crimes, and renew our commitment to fight for trans rights. Additionally, this week is Transgender Awareness Week, and Transgender Day of Remembrance will be observed on Monday, November 20th. We stand with our trans and nonbinary family members, friends, and neighbors, and with trans people around the world.

In happy news, we were heartened to hear of Danica Roem's and Andrea Jenkins's wins in their state legislative and city council (respectively) elections earlier this month. Congratulations to these trailblazers, and here's to a future with more inclusive government at all levels!

The Trevor Project urges the trans community and allies to educate others, to be "agents of change, transforming fear and bigotry into understanding and acceptance" — not just in November, but every day. In that spirit, here's an updated roundup of resources from The Horn Book's archives and beyond.
