"The Art of Ekua Holmes" exhibit

Last evening was the opening of "The Art of Ekua Holmes" exhibit, featuring original paintings from her books Voice of Freedom and Out of Wonder, at Simmons College's Trustman Art Gallery. Friend of the Horn Book Megan Dowd Lambert tweeted many photos of the exhibit (including one of the artist in conversation with our Creative Director Lolly Robinson); here are a few of mine.











As part of the 2017 Summer Institute (im)possible dreams, Ekua Holmes's gorgeous art will be on display through July 27, 2017. Read more about the exhibit in Kevin C. Peterson's article "The Vibrant Art of Roxbury's Ekua Holmes Recalls the Harlem Renaissance" over at WBUR.
