Horn Book editors: Though it’s a very different book, there are similarities in

Mr. Tiger Goes Wild: wildness, wilderness, dawning self-awareness. Do you think of them as taking place in the same universe or different ones?
Peter Brown: Unlike Mr. Tiger, Roz lives in our universe. Her story takes place on Earth, far in the future, at a time when intelligent robots are commonplace in human society. But I wasn’t interested in telling the story of a robot interacting with humans, or with other robots; I wanted to tell the story of a robot stranded in the wilderness.
