Editor Emeritus Roger Sutton was editor in chief of The Horn Book, Inc., from 1996-2021. He was previously editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books and a children's and young adult librarian. He received his MA in library science from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a BA from Pitzer College in 1978.

>LOVED the duckling story...the little things, the fragile things yet incredibly sturdy things of this world...on them so much depends! That includes picture books. IF you think about it..

Years ago at Viking, we got a note from one of our reps, who had been approached with a complaint about Make Way from an irate parent. The parent complained that Mr. Mallard leaves his family for a week, and that she thought this made for a very poor role model for children. Our poor rep said "I could only offer lamely that Mr. Mallard was, after all, a duck."
