He was previously editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books and a children's and young adult librarian. He received his MA in library science from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a BA from Pitzer College in 1978.

>Hooray for the Perkins star! Is it possible that she could win the Newbery and Caldecott with back to back books? I notice Kirkus has also starred PICTURES FROM OUR VACATION.

Hooray, too, for the Clarke star! ONE WHOLE AND PERFECT DAY is one of the most delightfully enchanting books of the spring season.
