"Why did THAT book win?"

MVPandME Martha and Me

While it was more often a question of "why did that book LOSE?" (Martha, above, is expressing her incredulity at the ALA shutout of The Thing About Luck) the discussion at last night's Children's Books Boston panel about awards was lively. Cindy Ritter has a full recap over at Out of the Box.

And: I met SAM. He's a pussycat. And it showed real dedication for him and his wife and son to drive up from New Jersey just to hear us yammer on.

What a great honor to be featured with you here Roger, and to meet up with you in person at an event that my wife and I thought was well worth the trip, even that pelting rain that regaled us on the way home. You are a prince of a guy for sure, and we were so pleased to meet up with Martha too, and spend the afternoon in and around Faneuil Hall. The actual panel discussion had us riveted. Our son Danny, who also had the week off for winter break had a great time, and made good on his time in Newbery Comics. God willing we'll be back next year! Thanks again my friend!
