Beth Krommes's Favorite Caldecott

Owl Moon by Jane YolenMy favorite Caldecott book is Owl Moon (1988), written by Jane Yolen and illustrated by John Schoenherr. I admire its elegant compositions, masterful watercolor and pen technique, the beauty of its blue and brown palette, and its gentle depiction of farm and woodland. It moves me every time I read it.

winner of the 2009 Caldecott Medal for The House in the Night

I love and respect Jane Yolen's work, I love that Illustrator John Schoenherr has captured her.
