It's time to weigh in with your mock nominations — we're excited to hear which four Caldecott-eligible 2021 titles have risen to the top so far this year.
Hello, everyone! Mid-November is when we typically pause our coverage of the year's Caldecott-eligible books to ask our readers to weigh in with their favorites.
You probably all know the drill by now — we're asking for four nominations now; three more to come in mid-December. This mirrors (very roughly) the Real Committee's process, wherein before they meet (remotely again, this year) in January to decide on Medal and Honor winners, they each will have nominated seven books.
For a more detailed explanation of the process, please see the Caldecott manual and our post last November soliciting nominations.
So, without further ado — leave the titles of four Caldecott-eligible 2021 books in the comments. You are welcome to provide persuasive commentary that might sway other readers around to your point of view (as the Real Committee members do), or just list four titles.
We're excited to see what's on your minds as we head into the second half of the Calling Caldecott season!
