This is our second-to-last issue of Notes for 2022; December is our Fanfare issue — our annual “best of” list — and, spoiler alert, it’s going to be great. This issue, too, is a good one, including a selection of picture books about one of our favorite subjects: stories! And a Five Questions interview, during Native American Heritage Month/National American Indian Heritage Month, that reframes the oft-told Thanksgiving narrative (via, appropriately enough, a story).

In the news: on Calling Caldecott, Martha discusses Caldecott eligibility of the recently announced New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated Children’s Books. The Michelson Galleries’ 33rd Annual Children’s Illustration Celebration is up (more to come from me on that soon). Transgender Day of Remembrance / Trans Day of Resilience is observed on Sunday, November 20. And members of the HarperCollins Union (UAW Local 2110) continue their strike.
