From the Editor - January 2025

Calling Caldecott fans: tomorrow’s the day! Our annual Mock Caldecott ballot opens at noon on Thursday, January 16. Just like the real committee members, you pick your top three picture-book choices, ranked and weighted; unlike on the real committee, there’s just one round. (Also unlike the real committee, our outcome is not…real). Voting closes at noon on Tuesday, January 21, so there’s still time to catch up on our contributors’ brilliant posts to make informed choices. Tune in to the American Library Association Youth Media Awards on Monday, January 27, to see how we all did. Last year’s Calling Caldecott readers chose Big by Vashti Harrison as the mock winner, and here’s what happened.

From the January 2025 issue of Notes from the Horn Book.
