From the Editor - August 2024

This issue of Notes takes readers to fantastical realms, on shipboard adventures, and alongside intergenerational companions — sometimes all at once. Our Five Questions interview with Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Faith Schaffer delves into the alt-historical world of their graphic novel The Worst Ronin; and Tokuda-Hall, a cofounder of Authors Against Book Bans, provides real-time resources to protect our “fundamental right” of reading freely. Notes offers many suggestions; Sacha Lamb’s The Forbidden Book, starred in the September/October Magazine, is the most aptly named!
