Earlier this month, the Horn Book announced our Fanfare selections, our best books of the year list for 2020. This was surely a strange year for sharing books with my children, requiring library holds (and contactless pickups); increased e-reading and audiobook-listening; and reading and re-reading old friends from around the house (and very privileged to have them).
If you're looking for that last-second, seventh-or-eighth-night Hanukkah present, or any other holiday gifts, peruse our Fanfare annotations. The titles, for all ages, are uplifting, entertaining, thought-provoking, illuminating, LOL-funny, tearjerking, and all good things that books can be. Remember to support your indie bookstores and libraries -- and to be kind to the people who work there -- wear a mask, and enjoy the end of 2020.
