Editorials from The Horn Book Guide

The first few issues of the Guide featured editorials by founding editor, Ann A. Flowers, who commented on the state of the field from her unique vantage point of having seen an entire publishing season's worth of books. Here are three samples from 1990 and 1991.

A New and Original Venture by Ann A. Flowers (Volume I, Number 1)
"It is a pleasure to present the first issue of The Horn Book Guide..."

Silver Lining in a Big, Black Cloud by Ann A. Flowers (Volume II, Number 1)
"Why are series books such a problem?"

Real People by Ann A. Flowers (Volume II, Number 2)
"...a hopeful trend in the art of biography for children."
