#LibrariansWithSuperpowers (and Horn Book "family members") Sujei Lugo, at the Connolly Branch of the Boston Public Library, and Claire Waldron-Gross, at the Egleston Branch, are celebrating Día in a pandemic-safe, creative, and empowering way: with Día DIY story walk packages. From Sujei:
"Each package has cardstock templates and sheet protectors so children can create their own story walks. They also have art materials, hand sanitizers and other goodies thanks to REFORMA Día mini-grant and people that donated. Thank you!!! Can't wait to see kids' faces and creations."
The Pura Belpré Award is also celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year, and our upcoming May/June special issue of the Horn Book Magazine -- for which Sujei served as consulting editor -- is devoted to the award and Latinx literature for young people. Additional details to come!
