What Are Chloe and Miles Wearing?

Our grandchildren, Chloe and Miles, live with their lovely parents in Marin County, CA, and like the rest of us they are stuck at home. Luckily, their parents are super-outdoorsy (didn't get that from me) plus they have a POOL (ditto). Living the California dream, kids.

What do you miss most about going to school?

Miles: I miss playing sports with my friends before school and at recess on the blacktop.  I used to get to school 30 minutes early every day to play football or basketball with all my friends.  I really miss this time with them.

Chloe: I miss my teacher, Mrs. Robbins, the most.  She is a great teacher and a lot better than my parents :)  I also miss being with my friends every day.  We have so much fun at school playing on the blacktop, in the gallery, and during recess.

What do you miss LEAST?

Miles: The only thing I don't like about school is being in a class with both fourth- and fifth-graders. I don't miss the fourth-graders.

Chloe: I don't miss waking up at 7:00 am.  During the school year, I have to get up at 7:00 am, eat breakfast and get off to school.  Since school has been closed my parents let me sleep til 8:00 am and then we begin our day around 9:00 am.

Reading anything good?

Miles: I am reading a book series called "Who Is, Who Was or What Is".  They are written by different people and are all very interesting.  I am currently reading "Who is Barack Obama" and have already read the books about Martin Luther King, Alexander Hamilton, Steve Jobs, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, The Super Bowl, and The Stanley Cup.  There are many more and I can't wait to read them.

Chloe: I have been reading a book series called Mercy Watson, by Kate DiCamillo.  It is about Mr. and Mrs. Watson and their pet pig Mercy.

Learned anything new?

Miles: I got a new Chrome book and I learned how to set it up and use it for both school and entertainment.  I have also started riding my dad's bike, which is bigger than mine.  It has a lot more gears and I can go a lot faster.  We go on a lot of bike rides these days.

Chloe: I got a hoverboard for my birthday in February and have learned a lot of new tricks.  I have also been riding my brother's bike which is the next size up from mine.  It has lots of gears and I can ride much faster.  The hardest thing that I have learned is Distant Learning.

When we can go to restaurants again, which one do you want to go to first, and what will you order?

Miles: My favorite restaurant is Gott's Roadside and I would get a grilled cheese sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a milkshake.  They have the best food ever!

Chloe: My favorite restaurant is Blue Barn.  They have the best turkey sandwiches on sourdough bread.  I also get potato chips that I put in the sandwich [THAT, she gets from me--ed.note] and an apple juice. My parents get salads and my brother gets a grilled cheese.  I cannot wait to go back!
